The shim plate originally started as a flat plate with a slight bend, but Piaggio changed these and added sides to them, the problem is that whoever Piaggio had making the new shim plates was also making the stand brackets, and the stand brackets they made were a fraction narrower than before, and the shim plated with sides are made to fit the later narrower Piaggio stand brackets, so if you have the early or non original stand brackets these shim plates will be too narrow to fit.Cross reference Piaggio Vespa 258555.
